This new 5000+ SF home is on Martha's Vineyard. A dramatic entry with ocean views washing over you as you enter. The first-floor plan has a generous kitchen/living/dining area large enough for extended family gatherings while also providing gorgeous views of the ocean. The office and den offer private spaces to get away from the hustle of family life while the first-floor suite gives the owners a generous bedroom for older relatives.
To reduce the scale of this large home the 2nd story was built into the roof. Both the master suite and the guest suite have private balcony views of the ocean, each bedroom has direct access to a bathroom and the clerestory space fills the 2nd floor with light while providing ocean views.
The Alaskan yellow cedar roof is one of the home’s most subtle features. The bleached shingles help soften the façade. An expansive deck and outdoor shower are necessities for Vineyard summers.

In this Needham ranch home the owner wished for an updated space, larger kitchen, and a mudroom area. The solution was to open up the formerly closed off kitchen, and carve a small mudroom area out of the existing garage entry. Careful attention was paid to defining the different uses of the larger space using lighting and furniture. A sleek Walnut floor sets the tone of the space and the modern cabinets in contrasting dark and light create visual interest Custom and adjustable lighting was added at the ceiling at each beam to provide ample lighting for each of the uses.
The living area includes bold pink swivel chairs that can join the conversation or enjoy a crackling fire.
Before - Prior to the renovation the kitchen was closed off and poorly planned
By opening up the kitchen to the living and dining in this project we've increased the feeling of space in this unit. Sleek integrated appliances, high design cabinets, and simple modern finishes and lighting really make this project unique.
The kitchen became the functional hub of this apartment. By raising the main ceiling that was lowered in a bad 70's renovation we were able to add much more natural light to the unit making dining in the bay window dining room a pleasant experience.

South End Townhouse
These two luxury townhouses were created in a formerly dilapidated tenement in the South End. SLR Architecture was able to secure approval from the Boston Redevelopment Authority for additional square footage as well as a roof deck.
The transformation creates two 2,400 S.F. units that each have 3 bedrooms, 3 1/2 bathrooms, an open kitchen, living, & dining area and private exterior space along with a parking space for each unit in the back alley.
The kitchen features modern dark cabinets, access to outside space, and a breakfast nook/office area.
The Master bath features a custom glass shower and marble tile
All bedrooms are en-suite with direct access to private baths
The New rear egress also provides direct access to parking and a balcony off of the kitchens
One Parking space per unit is included, a key amenity for city living
A new roof deck at unit 2 provides access to the outside and amazing views of the Boston skyline,
A rebuilt bay and reclaimed walnut front door complete the entry
Unit 1 has access to a lower level private patio.
The typical stairs include sleek modern vertical cable.
The Master bath at unit 2 includes a large marble shower and tub enclosure.
This North Shore home was expanded and completely reorganized. We added a new steel beam to allow for an open floor plan, created a new front entry hall, carved out a new children's den and the family room addition completed the transformation.
Beacon Hill Loft
This apartment was in need of modernization, we updated 3 bathrooms, took advantage of some underutilized loft space and installed a sleek custom steel stair that helped to unify the living level.
The kitchen and dining area now borrow space from each other making both areas seem larger. The custom stair provides a separation from the living and cooking/eating areas while maintaining a visual connection.
The living area features custom recessed lighting, lots of natural light, and two seating areas. The former kitchen was a small closed room. This new kitchen is now open to the unit increasing the feeling of space.
This Master Bathroom is both small and luxurious, glass tile adorn the shower walls while marble is the material of choice for the walls and floors. A custom glass door and panel maintains the feeling of space in this efficient bath.
This custom designed steel and wood stair serves as the central hub of the unit while also embodying the modern twist that the owner was trying to create.
This center entrance colonial was updated with a new addition that included a kitchen, breakfast room, and much-needed mudroom for this family with 3 small children. Also included was an upgraded Master and kids bathroom.
From the new breakfast room, the kitchen bar is seen here. This kitchen features custom cherry cabinets, black granite countertops and a cork floor with radiant heat.
This young family was in need of garage space, a mudroom, and a new powder room on the first floor, at the second floor they requested a master bath and kids play room. A big concern of the family was making sure that the new addition fit in nicely with the existing home and was scaled appropriately. They are excited with the end result and feel that the addition has not only added much needed interior space but enhanced it’s curb appeal as well.
